Beautiful foundation cannot be beat, but it must start with the skin. I have always been a skincare advocate and I must admit in recent times there has been a greater focus on taking care of the skin. To over-look this is a huge disservice to yourself. This is your skin, makeup washes off. We are constantly in contact with germs and toxins in the atmosphere and it is pivotal to treat our skin well. Here are some ways to give some love to your skin and enjoy a beautiful, healthy complexion.
Before you cleanse your face you need to actually remove your makeup. My old faithful is Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser. It is simply minerals and water. I take a dollop and massage it into my face; it literally looks like your makeup is melting off your face. Then I take my favorite Compact Ottoman Turquoise Wipes and wipe away all the makeup on my face.
A close second to the Ponds is the Garnier Micellar Water. I love this product because when you remove your makeup with it you are not required to rinse your face. It lifts all the makeup and dirt off the skin leaving it feeling refreshed and not greasy. Therefore it is perfect for when you are on the go.
Having a face cleanser is very important. Soaps are very drying and can strip your face of moisture unnecessarily. It may not be noticeable at first but the long term effects will be manifested at some point and trust me, you won’t be pleased. Pre-mature aging and wrinkles to name a few. Determine your needs whether you have oily, dry, combination, acne prone or another skin type or condition. Then purchase a cleanser suitable to your needs. Admittedly sometimes you may have to try a few to get something that works best for you, but it is worth it.
Remove dead skin cells so that your beautiful radiant and healthy skin underneath can breathe and shine? Do it! I recommend no more than twice a week with a scrub that is not overly abrasive. Aveeno is one of my faves.
“I do not moisturize because I have oily skin”. You all are hurting my head with this one. Never, and I reiterate ….NEVER skip moisturizer, even on the hottest of days. You need water, your skin needs moisture. Life hack: use a light oil free moisturizer with SPF in the day and slather on a rich, thick moisturizer before bed. I always say, you are creating the best possible conditions at night for your skin cells to renew themselves.
